About Confessions of a Paris Party Girl

When newly-single party girl Vicki moved to Paris, she was hoping to indulge in wine, stuff her face with croissants, and fall in love. It proved to be much more “difficile” than she’d imagined. In this laugh-out-loud memoir, this cheeky storyteller recounts the highs and lows of her life in the City of Light. Sassy and shamefully honest, Vicki makes you feel as if you’re right there in Paris stumbling along the cobblestones with her.

My Review

Lesage shares her experiences adjusting to life as an expat in France. Despite the adjustment and challenges Lesage maintains her sense of humor and positive attitude as she initially starts off contending with the key to her apartment which leads to a hilarious first adventure. Dealing with the famous French bureaucracy, learning the ropes of French office decorum, baptismal shopping experience, Lesage is quickly adapting to life as a resident of France without batting an eye. However, mastering the bar and culinary scene comes with ease, Lesage even dips her toe into the dating pool while acquiring friends along the way.

An entertainingly humorous story of an all American girl acclimating to call France home along with the intricacies associated. I admire Lesage’s patience, courage and determination, I truly lived vicariously through her, quite a fun reading adventure.

Garg crafts another fabulous short story duo with the exception being these two stories provide a backstory to her previous dynamic duo in Two for the Heart. See full review of Two for the Heart.

Making The Proposal
Pooja and Akshay – one memorable couple with an affecting story. They certainly touched my heart in Two for the Heart. Originally we were given crumbs as to the full disclosure on how these two met and all that followed. Now we know this wonderful couples full story. I loved how Garg filled in the blanks, totally adore this couple even more.

Reminiscence
Rose and Helen. Two sisters estranged, reunited through tragedy. Once again Garg fills in the blanks as to the depth of the two sisters estrangement. We have better insight into both Rose and Helen along with their intricate and complicated relationship as sisters and women. Garg closes the veil of mystery surrounding these two as well as the shocking story, all comes full circle.

Once again Garg delivers with pitch perfect dialogue, emotionally compelling characters with spot on narratives. Her imagination and creativity strike gold with her unique theme and link in her stories. An authoress clearly stepping out of the box succeeding. Needless to say I am anticipating her next collection, never disappointing.

Two short stories with measureless impact. Both stories flanked by love. The premise of ‘pairs’ of short stories is original and unique, you understand the pairing as you read of the connection between the duo. Garg’s vision elevates both characters and narrative.

The Proposal – a couple pulling at your heartstrings, you have no idea the final outcome, quite a tender story. Love fully demonstrated.

Remembrance – a slow build up, smattering of clues before the reader is blindsided left with their mouth forming an O.

Garg’s talent is in dialog and characterization – clearly her characters are three dimensional, incandescent. Prosaic circumstances yet emotionally grueling. Her prose is absorbing, placidity with weightiness. Memorable and potent.

Two affecting marvelous short stories, anxious to read more from Garg, an authoress commanding a favor in style and characterization, powerful meaning hooking the reader with originality and uniqueness on all degrees.

The Painter by Luccini Shurod

image
An intimate story that bears a reflection of Luccini Shurod’s life and the beloved experience of falling in love for the very first time.

“Now drawing four fingers up the sides of her stomach, my hands create a kind of invisible wave that sounds beneath her skin. Molding her torso every which way as if it were clay for me to experiment, I study the lines of her iridescent form flowing in a rhythmic beauty that fascinates me into this fixation. My finger circles around the rim of her belly button as if to enjoy the sounds that might come from a crystal glass. Her every touch absorbs my ability to discern thought as I become rested in this feeling of absolute ecstasy. Life without her I know would indefinitely destroy me, having already solemnly delivered my spirit to this angel that comes down to be with me.”

Recognized as a child prodigy Shurod’s ability to draw and paint garnered much attention and recognition. His childhood somewhat unconventional yet he was immersed in love and possessed the ability to love fiercely.

As he enters adulthood he encounters love with Nadia. Destined for turbulent times, this forbidden love failed to prevent Shurod from shying away. Shurod dives in and casts hesitation, cultural differences and vulnerability to the wind and gives his mind, heart, body and soul to Nadia.

Shurod’s prose is lyrical and affecting. His love, passion and deepest feelings seep from the pages. His emotions bared as he reveals his nakedness, his heart hemorrhages intensity, elation and the depths of despair.

Shurod in true artist form begins his story with blank pages, draws the outline and magnificently adds colors to create a masterpiece with love as his paintbrush.

Elegantly written as a sensitive and capable man tells the story of his first love as he enters the beautiful and brutal labyrinth of love. A man allowing his emotions to be unleashed as he candidly shares his intimate story with unbridled fervor.

As a reader there is nothing more affecting than hearing a man share his love story through his voice without fear, his heart open, this is exactly what Shurod crafts in The Painter. With an artist guiding the writing implement you know you are in for quite a story, blatant as the story unravels with the turn of every page. A love story indeed, Shurod’s artist soul is apparent as you read his passionate story.
